Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

Sushi Counter is designed with your privacy in mind. We believe your data belongs to you, and we strive to collect only what is necessary to provide you with a great experience.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Sushi Counter ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and discloses information about you when you use our mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you consent to the processing of your information as described in this policy.

2. Data Collection and Storage

Local Data

The core functionality of Sushi Counter relies on data stored locally on your device. This ensures that your personal tracking data remains under your direct control. This includes:

  • Sushi consumption counts and statistics
  • Achievements and progress
  • App preferences and settings
  • User-generated content (such as photos you save)

We do not transmit this personal data to our own servers.

Information Collected Automatically (Third Parties)

While we do not collect personal data directly, we use third-party services to support the App's free version through advertising and to improve app stability. These partners may collect certain information automatically:

  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (such as IDFA on iOS or GAID on Android).
  • Usage Data: Crash reports, performance data, and app activity.
  • Location Data: Approximate location data (derived from IP address) for relevant advertising.

3. Advertising and Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements in our App. This allows us to offer the App for free.

Google AdMob usage involves:

  • Cookies and Identifiers: Google may use cookies or unique device identifiers to serve ads based on your visit to this App and other apps or websites.
  • Personalized Ads: If you consent (via the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS), Google may use your data to show ads that are more relevant to your interests.
  • Non-Personalized Ads: If you do not consent to tracking, you will still see ads, but they may be less relevant to you. These ads still use cookies or mobile identifiers to combat fraud and for frequency capping, but not for personalization based on your behavior.

For more detailed information, please review the Google Privacy & Terms regarding how Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services.

4. Your Rights and Choices

GDPR (European Users)

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have specific rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access & Portability: You can view and export your locally stored data via the App settings.
  • Erasure: You can delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the App or using the delete function within the App.
  • Consent Withdrawal: You can manage your consent for personalized advertising at any time via your device settings or the App's settings menu.

CCPA/CPRA (California Residents)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to opt-out of the "sale" of their personal information. In digital advertising, "sale" can be defined broadly to include data sharing for personalized ads.

You can exercise your right to opt-out by enabling "Limit Ad Tracking" (iOS) or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" (Android) in your system settings.

App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS devices, we adhere to Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. Upon first launch (or when relevant), we will ask for your permission to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes. You have full control to Allow or Ask App Not to Track. You can change this choice at any time in your iOS Settings > Privacy > Tracking.

5. Children's Privacy

Our App is suitable for general audiences. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us so we can delete it. For advertising, we configure our ad requests to be compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

6. Third-Party Services

We may share anonymous data with the following third-party service providers for the purposes of app functionality and advertising:

  • Google AdMob: Advertising Network (Privacy Policy)
  • Google Firebase/Crashlytics: Crash reporting and analytics (Privacy Policy)

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We advise you to review this page periodically for any changes.
